Health Care Environments for Children

Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent Specialties & Treament. HTB Architects has considerable experience planning and designing neonatal, pediatric and adolescent health care facilities. Before joining HTB, our architects were responsible for the master planning, design and construction implementation of over $120 million of expansion, renovation and satellite system development projects while on-staff in a major, urban Children’s Hospital.

Our experience includes all facets of neonatal, pediatric and adolescent health care facility architecture. We appreciate the unique design issues associated with these special medical environments. Our goal has been to create positive and home-like environments for young patients that promote wellness as well as to provide a functional and efficient environment for staff.

Reviews/Comments

“The architects ability to be flexible with all the various disciplines in our hospital-the nurses, doctors, therapists, and others- was really impressive and important to us. The project was extremely successful.”

- David Greenberg, RN, Director, Nursing

“We had to address all consumer issues. While this usually focuses on patient and parent concerns, we are very careful to integrate staff consumer issues because we recognize that the staff will be using the new facility longer than the patients.”

- John Phelan, AIA, HTB Architects

“Designing children’s hospitals is so interesting because you are dealing with children of all ages from infancy to adolescence. There are big differences among them-developmentally, physically, psychologically, behaviorally- and you have to continually account for that in your design.”

- Mike Gibble, HTB Architects
